January is a great time to reflect on the past year, recharge, and set new goals for the upcoming year. So, what are you looking forward to in 2024? One of our goals is too be less restrictive with our resolutions by adding things instead of taking them away.

We all want to do our part in making the world a better place, but sometimes it can be difficult to know where to start. The good news is that there are plenty of simple, easy things we can all do to help others and make a positive impact on our communities.

1. Another way to give back is to take a walk and pick up litter. Not only does this help keep our environment clean, but it's also a great way to get some exercise and make a positive impact. You can even check with your local council or community to see if they organise litter-picking events that you can volunteer for.

2. Sort through your food cupboards after the holidays and donate any unwanted food to a local food bank. With a quick Google search, you can easily find the nearest food bank and make a difference in someone's life.

3. And let's not forget about our elderly neighbour. Help an elderly neighbour cut their hedge have a cuppa with them, have a little chat. These little things can make such a big difference to their lives.

4. Do you have old wool or craft supplies lying around? Consider donating them to your local library. Many libraries now offer a warm, welcoming space for people to gather, socialise, and work on projects. Your donation could be just the thing someone needs to get started on a new hobby or project.

5. Take the time to have that 5-minute chat with the extra-friendly stranger. That 5 minutes could be their only adult contact that day or that shopping trip could be their only respite of the week from their partner with Alzheimers . Even just smiling, saying hello, and holding a door open for someone can brighten their day and make them feel seen and valued. Try and do nice things and be kinder. This will have an impact on our communities and the world around us.

Just a few of the restaurants we want to make time to visit this year

We have plans this year to try a few different food ideas.
