Frozen Chilli Mango Margarita

Well guys the summer weather should be hitting us any time now. So dust off all the cobwebs and get relaxing in the garden. We have a great frozen mango margarita recipe to share with you, believe us when we say it is a very easy recipe and it won’t disappoint.

We came up with this recipe when we came across a bag of frozen mango lurking in the back of the freezer. We aren’t saying you will find a bag in your freezer but do take a look. Ours was from our smoothie Saturdays, just a little craze we went through lol.

Now in our opinion the classic margarita needs no improvement but mango and chilli never made anything worse right? So think of this as an alternative margarita not an improved one. The chilli in the recipe doesn’t want to be overpowering it just wants to give a little heat. But because the flavours in the drink are quite strong the chilli syrup needs be spicy so it doesn’t get lost. If you want more spice feel free to add more chillies in the syrup but I certainly wouldn’t recommend putting in less, you just won’t taste it in the finished drink

Ingredients

Chilli Syrup (enough for 8 drinks)

1 cup sugar

1 cup of water

2 green chillies, roughly chopped

Margarita

2 cups frozen mango

50ml tequila

20ml Cointreau

25ml chilli syrup

Juice of half a lime

Tajin to garnish

Method

  1. Add the ingredients for the chilli syrup into a pan, bring to a boil then simmer for 3 minutes, leave to cool, then strain

  2. Dip the rim of a margarita glass into a shallow dish of water then into a shallow dish of Tajin to rim the glass

  3. Add the ingredients for the margarita in to a blender and blend until smooth, pour into the rimmed glass and enjoy! Told you it was easy.
